Reasons: His political stock (and respect) just went up in the world. You folks may not have heard, but during his African trip, a few of the leaders over there refused to meet with him too, it just wasn’t reported too much in the news.
And another thing: The anti-gay policies (wise, in my opinion) aren’t just Putin. I believe the votes in their legislature were either unanimous, or pretty close to it.
True. Those policies are Russia asserting itself as something different from the West.
