It sits lower than most modern cars (it’s a 1984 300D turbo diesel) but it does have above average visibility all the way around. No airbags, very little of what we would call electronics, as it is based on 1960s and 70s technology, just slightly updated. I’ve had people wanting to buy it just for the engine and others because it’s the easiest to convert to bio-diesel or running on French fry oil. Guy hit me from behind about a month ago with a full size pickup going at least 30mph. All he did was break some plastic in my one tail light. No other damage whatsoever. It’s like a panzer.
I believe that. In the past six years or so, I've seen quite a number of those old diesel Benzes being trailered on the highway. Most of them looked as though they'd been parked in someone's back yard for over a decade - dirty and mildewed with dry-rotted tires. After laying dormant for so long, all of a sudden those cars became highly sought.
