I know where you were trying to go with this, but really, when you're trying to put things in perspective, it might be best to actually put them in perspective rather than choose an example that is grossly different.
To put it in perspective, you write a book claiming in high school GeronL was beaten up by a geek.
In other words, you'd really have to go far to actually demonstrate that there is any loss in the first place. The issue died with the accuser. Jesse Ventura is doing himself more harm than any possible clearing of his name could possibly gain by suing the widow of his accuser.

Kyle made a libelous statement against Ventura in his book that Ventura disputes and nobody has been found to have witnessed Kyle's claim. Without witnesses then that is indeed libel and Ventura has every right to clear his name no matter what it takes........
