Rep. Paul Ryan (R) of Wisconsin inserted himself Sunday into what could be possibly one of the the more remarkable debates ever to hit Capitol Hill.
Speaking on CBS's "Face the Nation," Representative Ryan said he was not in favor of shutting down the government as a way of forcing Democrats to repeal President Obama's health-care law a political tactic some Republicans, such as Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, have advocated. Instead, he said "there are more effective ways of achieving that goal" though he was not asked to name any.
What is remarkable about the debate is that Democrats aren't going to repeal Obamacare. Ever. Nor does the Republican Party have any conceivable political lever to make them do so. A government shutdown will not defund Obamacare, nor will it likely change anyone's opinion about it.
And yet many Republicans are undaunted and with good reason.
More than the debt-ceiling debate of 2011 or this year's angst over the sequester, the current talk of resorting to a government shutdown to defund Obamacare speaks to the changing character of Capitol Hill....

Has Sen. Ryan offered any other way to stop O-care?
If so, let’s consider it.
If not, then let’s tell him to get in line to help solve this important problem, now while it can still be solved/stopped.
this is not going to be Cruz’s government shutdown. It should not be blamed on the Republicans. I understand they will include all the money to run the government, except for Obamacare. That money will be omitted. Did I read it right??

No means no, is a concept that Rep. Ryan has yet to learn.
Now Rep. Ryan has become Commie Enabler for Commune-Style Obama’care.’
BTW, didn’t the RINOs run this Welfare Republican for Veep in 2012?
Jim DeMint outlined it exactly as we should. Obama is shutting down the government in order to keep in place a bill that has been dubbed by its architect ‘a train wreck’, and the majority of Americans have hated since inception. There are no other sticking points. Obamacare is it.
This is a media winner, but our leaders are too stupid, and no doubt you’ll have Ryan on the Sunday shows again when it shuts down saying that Republicans have shut down the government.
Congress would pass the CRs. Obama would be the one NOT to sign them. It would be Obama's shutdown. If Paul Ryan says that it would be Congress who is shutting down the government then he is a propagandist.
Paul Ryan trying to save ObamaCare?
Ryan is a coward and a weakling.
Good grief! This punk was once viewed as possible presidential timber? No thanks.
He’s a congressman, not a senator.

What gets me is that Milt passed over Sarah Palin for this Howdy Doody looking guy.
What the hell does Ryan care? These bastards are going to exempt themselves from it anyway.
They are too busy trying to flood the US with a permanent underclass for their corporate masters.
GOP-E
The loss of most earmarks has made it tougher for legislative leaders to control their members. The future will be harder to predict than before.
I believe that they are in two different Houses so as long as Cruz blocks it in the Senate Ryan can do nothing about that in house.
Unless ‘Cruz’s shutdown’ depends on Ryan blocking after Senate passes a budget. But that would be very lame.
He is in the Senate so that is where it needs to be killed.
Paul Ryan is a damn fool. worthless POS that made a fool out of me and a hell of a lot of other people
So...what does Big Obama have on Paul Ryan?
“So...what does Big Obama have on Paul Ryan?”
Exactly what I was wondering. Probably something similar that he had on Roberts and Rubio.
Yes. Thank u.
