You can’t have a drug war and not have this.

You can’t have a drug war and not have no-knock raids, militarization of the police, and the general loss of freedoms. Speaking of militarization, did you know that police are being taught infantry assault tactics now? And I ain’t talking SWAT guys, I am talking line officers. Things like bounding overwatch, SUPPRESSIVE FIRE, movement to contact, etc. This is all in the name of the war on terror, but can easily carry over to the war on drugs.

We bemoan the violence in the inner cities but still think that the drug war can be worn by extra enforcement, DARE, and all the other feel good programs that keep people employed but do nothing.

Young cops ALL want to fight the drug war, they have been indoctrinated to think that way. I was, and I was neck deep in it for years. One day, I just sat back and asked myself it was worth it, if I was making a damn bit of difference and the answer was a resounding negative.

This is not going to be a popular sentiment here, but virulently anti-drug Republicans and conservatives are as responsible for the advent of the police state as anyone.

If only they had looked to Faith Based Institutions such as the Church and YMCA, etc, to combat the social scourge of drug addiction instead of placing that power at the feet of the Federal Government, we would have far less jack-booted thuggery than we now suffer.

Is Texas scraping the bottom of the barrel for troopers or what?

Two of these morons stopped me one day. I was dead stopped at a stop sign on a county road. Here they come on the cross road. I saw them look, go 200’ while I turn away from them to go on my way. They wheel into the ditch in a U-turn and here they come. I pull over in the ditch. The idiots come up along each side of the truck like they have captured John Dillinger and one of the fools taps on the back window with a freakin gun.

My inspection is a month out.

WTH are these morons doing?

Good Lord. Just legalize the drugs already and lets have a free country again.

Yup. For those people:

Texas DPS: some good, some bad. Lots of ‘me.

Texas Rangers: Only about 100 of them. Have met two. Vey polite and respectful. Hate corruption. Serious badasses.
