Beethoven is a man’s composer, a really macho man. The troops should find him interesting.

Good evening, Maestro!

This superannuated former troop has always found Beethoven interesting. In my senior year of high school, I stayed up all night and recorded the Deutsche Grammophon set of the Nine Symphonies - Berlin Philharmoniker - Herbert Von Karajan - playing on WGMS-FM in Washington, DC.

Of course the Philistines at my school had no inkling that it was Beethoven's Birthday. They were groovin' on Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs.

They ought to check out Wellington's Victory, or the Battle of Vitoria by Beethoven.
