A more central player?
The minority leader in the House has no power unless the majority leader or speaker gives it to her, or she usurps it, or the MSM simply ignores the Republicans and pretends that they don't exist. The majority leader and speaker set the House agenda, and simple majority vote rules.
On the other hand, the minority leader in the Senate has filibuster power from cloture unless he abdicates it or is afraid to use it.

What you say is aligned with the Constitution. I’m referring to the reality that Pelosi, as a cog in the ‘Rat machine, represents more power than Boehner, a follower and generally in line with the Republicrats. So, a combination or all of “The majority leader or speaker gives it to her, or she usurps it, or the MSM simply ignores the Republicans and pretends that they don’t exist.” captures the essence of our dilemma.
