Its official: Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) will face a Tea Party challenger in 2014.
A spokesperson for Republican Nancy Mace, who is already being billed as a Tea Party favorite, confirmed to TheBlaze on Thursday that she plans to challenge Graham for his Senate seat in the 2014 Republican primary. She plans to make a special announcement about her run at the Berkeley County GOP Breakfast on Saturday.
The spokesperson said the campaign will be releasing more information and Mace will be doing interviews following the formal announcement.
Mace is the first woman to graduate from The Citadel, a military college in the Palmetto State. She is also a wife, mother and small business owner from Goose Creek, S.C. According to her campaign website, she is the proud daughter of retired Army Brigadier Gen. Emory Mace.

“Youre confusing Nancy Mace with Shannon Faulkner.”
Sort of. Have you read Nancy’s (ghost-written) book yet? :)
I know 2 people who were at Citadel at the time. I’ve reached out to them to ask them what they think of her running.
However, I never said she was not, nor could not be, good.
Like I said, I no longer JUMP in with money and/or time when someone “declares” that they are better and more Conservative than the other guy.
I also have a higher standard for Senators (6 years is a long time).
Too much to ask?
Lindsay sucks. He has to go. We agree.
But who else is running and why has the Media (and certain parts of the Rep. establishment) latched on to this one so early? Like they did Christie and some others?
I’m not going to bandwagon completely unknown candidates any more.
The Media and the establishment rip apart the good Tea Party candidates (Palin, Cruz, for example), but they seem to be ok with this one. Ok?
If we want to get rid of Little Lindsey, it might be best to do a bit of “reserving judgment” on ANY of his announced opposition until things begin to clear up—it's early in the cycle. It's possible that an even more (i.e., more so than Lindsey) of a RINO/Liberal will come out to run against Graham. If that helps to drain additional votes from Lindsey, it's all to the good. The thing we want to happen is to force Lindsey into a runoff by preventing him from getting to the 50% thresh-hold needed to avoid such a runoff. You can take it to the bank that if he's in a runoff, he will be facing the most conservative of his primary opposition. Support can then coalesce around that conservative.
Well, then we agree more than we may have realized.
Flimsey’s faggie friends will have the long knives out for his opponent in the primary, whoever it is.
” I am with you, Grahmanesty has to be taken out.
At this stage I would support a Dem over him.”
He IS a Dem, for all intents.
Never trust a “poofter” politician. Too easy to control : )
” Don’t let that Southern Good Dough boy twang fool you.
He knows exactly what he is doing. “
Don’t bend over to pick up your briefcase if he is nearby....just sayin.
She's not run for public office at all, and as you say, there needs to be a higher standard for the U.S. Senate.
I await the news of SC State Senator Lee Bright officially entering the primary.
IMHO, there will be no top-tier primary opposition to Lindsey Graham. But it will still be possible to keep him under 50% in the primary. If the candidates running can garner enough regional support combined with conservatives voting for anybody-but-Graham, he can be forced into a runoff.
Also: the Executive Committee of the South Carolina Republican Party has a "Resolution in Support of the Replacement of Lindsey Graham as Senator for the State of South Carolina."
Read it here.
Interesting... her own party wants to get rid of her.
