Really. The author cites John Harris, a recent graduate of historically black Howard University, “who now works to reduce homelessness.”
That college education really qualified him for a productive, high-earning job that helps society. The only way to reduce homelessness is to have a robust, healthy and growing economy to provide jobs to all who want them. You cannot just take a government social work job “to reduce homelessness.” He obviously didn’t learn a single useful thing during his years at Howard. Why would that make any optimistic about the future?
Well, he is in a growth industry.
I know I’M not optimistic. But then, I am white.
