Anecdotal, but in the past couple of weeks, I've talked with four people who've lost their jobs. Three layoffs, and one guy who was told that his contract wouldn't get renewed at the end of the year due to lack of $$$$$..

They're all in the same location (NC) but in all different disciplines.

We're way overdue for some shakeups in the market, this might be the beginning of it. Or not. :-)

Same here in Atlanta. I have a lot of friends who survived purges from 2008/2009 (in various occupations) who have lost their jobs in the past month.
