Children don’t like to be reminded constantly how “lucky” they are that they live a privileged existence. For one thing, it makes them feel helpless and incompetent since they have done nothing to earn the existence they are living and they wonder (deep down inside) what they’ll do if it is all snatched away.

Better to teach them skills that they can share with the underprivileged.
