Dr. Reza Aslans newly released book, Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth, has been at the center of considerable controversy in recent days after shooting to the top of Amazons bestseller list. NPR billed the work as Christ in context, while a number of Christians are criticizing its portrayal of Jesus as inaccurate and misleading.
Wednesday night on TheBlaze TV, Glenn Beck gave his own perspective on the issue, arguing that Aslan is one in a long line of progressives seeking to re-write history.
From naming streets after communist labor activist Caesar Chavez to making movies glorifying the murderous revolutionary Che, progressives are trying to cement the legacy of the radical revolutionary and the leftist, and thats what theyre trying to make Jesus into, Beck asserted. He was a radical, he was a revolutionary, he was just like Che, and if you believe anything else, youre into the dustbin of history.

“Beck then explored Aslans background and financial connections, saying the strings lead back to a number of familiar leftist groups like Code Pink, the Tides Foundation, the Center for American Progress, and the International Crisis Group.
This is starting to look familiar isnt it? Beck said, putting logos of the organizations on his chalkboard as he spoke.”
My mayor, a liberal Republican, created a "Caesar Chavez Day", a city-wide holiday that enabled all city employees to take the day off with pay. Cost to the taxpayers was estimated to be $48,000 annually.
Ya I’ve heard the Christ -communist stuff before.
He favored a 10% flat tax IIRC.
Promoted a Monarchy, as well.
Expected more from those who had more, but never codified it, other than to imply that love of material possesions might create an obstacle in seeking his Father.
He loved the poor and crippled and dispossessed and rejected the legalists and the phony religious leaders.
He showed a better way, not so suited for the present; or was it? He was a pacifist ( think Quakers), whereas most of us are prepared for warfare.
He could have ushered His Kingdom in with his power but He prefer to draw us to Glory in a counterintuitive way...
Suitable answer:
Isaiah 45:9 KJV
King James Version
Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker ! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?
Unbelievable!
Not really. He was a lifelong democRAT who switched to Republican because someone told him he stood a better chance of getting elected mayor. They were right. The dumbasses in this city vote to reelect him every time.
I appreciate your use of the Authorized Version, at one time in my life it was the most published book on the planet- I hope it still is.
I teased here at FR once with this verse- clearly indicating that Jesus wants to grow government.
Isaiah 9:7
King James Version (KJV)
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
