House Speaker John Boehner has already thrown a wrench into President Barack Obama's latest "grand bargain" offer just a few hours after details of it began trickling out, and just five hours before Obama is set to deliver a speech detailing the plan in Tennessee. The gist of Obama's grand bargain is a plan to cut the corporate tax rate, while using billions of dollars in revenue generated in business tax overhaul to fund a job-creation program.
In a statement, Boehner spokesman Michael Steel shot down the idea, marveling that it left small businesses "and American families behind."
"The President has always supported corporate tax reform. Republicans want to help families and small businesses, too," Steel said. "This proposal allows President Obama to support President Obama's position on taxes and President Obama's position on spending, while leaving small businesses and American families behind."
A House GOP leadership aide explained that Republicans have advocated corporate tax reform being paried with individual tax reform. Cutting the corporate tax rate to 25% while leaving the top individual rate at 39.6%, the aide said, would have a "devastating" effect on small businesses.

I don’t believe Boner.
Letting Obama touch corporate taxes is a huge mistake. He’ll only increase the effective rate no matter how its advertised.
No more of this Grand Bargain, Sequestration, etc, etc. Pick an issue popular with 75% of the people and champion it. If the GOP doesn’t pick up some specific items to fight for, they’ll never pick up additional support. The past three years have been overwhelmingly confusing to the typical American voter...which is to Obama’s benefit. Look at the 90s. We championed welfare reform, pro-investment tax reform and reform in the legislative branch to clean up corruption. Easy to communicate in one sentence, and easy to rally support. The C wizards of smart are anything but.
I got an issue which will resonate with 90% of Americans right here:
AMERICAN JOBS.
Stop sending American jobs elsewhere.
Bring back American jobs.
Fer crying out loud. What in the world are we doing?
Let me guess.. More government workers and union hacks?
There are a lot of bridges and roads that need to be built...
How about get rid of all income tax rates period, both individual and business?

Any revenue generated by business will be misspent by Obama.
Letting Obama touch ANYTHING is a huge mistake.
Boehner has been around long enough to realize that once the crony capitalists smell a proposal that could put some cash in their pockets they will unleash the full power of K Street upon his caucus in order to pass it.
Killing our free-market, Capitalist Republic by asphyxiating the private sector while growing the government workforce (National Civilian Security Force)?
A "Grand Bargain" is the only hope the United States military has from being completely destroyed from within by its own government.
You talk again and again about how this is "Obama's Sequester", but you don't lift a finger to stop it.
As Speaker, you didn't even attempt to stop the 2011 cuts to the military of $487 Billion over ten years. Those were in addition to the $330 Billion cuts that began in 2009 (Rep "Buck" McKeon, the HASC Chairman, verified these numbers in an article he recently wrote). Then, you yourself negotitated and voted yes on the "formula" to make the military "pay for" 50% of all Sequestration cuts, despite it being only 17% of the budget, and you negotiated and allowed for Entitlements to be exempt from Sequestration!
Five months on, and the military is being decimated by Sequestration. The damage has already been deep and in some cases not reversible without years of healing.
The rumors are probably true Boehner, you cannot figure out which way to pee in the morning without asking Rep Eric Cantor to hold it for you. Why don't you simply resign and let him run for Speaker - you aren't doing your job anyway.
If Barry believes not having the very highest corporate tax in the world is a good thing, he can agree to bring it down modestly, which is all he proposes, without slashing deductions or spending billions in boondoggles.
Get oil down to 40 bucks a barrel and get rid of Obamacare and the problems go away.
Dump O-CommieCare and jobs will start coming back
Other countries can do some things cheaper. What is wrong with that? Now there are some products that can’t be made/done in an affordable manner BECAUSE of government and those environmental/labor burdens should be eased. But the idea of a private company sending jobs elsewhere isn’t a bad thing unless it caused by the government. Private companies should NEVER be penalized for outsourcing.
Oh those roads and bridges were fixed back with the trillion dollar stimulus. Don’t you remember? Obama said we had to fix them and pass the stimulus to we could pay for it? All those jobs to be created from it?
Wait, you mean that DIDN’T happen?
Social Security and Medicare would still be barreling towards insolvency, FedGov would still be taxing us through currency devaluation, our 16T debt would still be unpaid and the gigantic corrupt bureaucracy would still be in place.
It would be a good start, however.
That is not a black and white issue. In most cases foreign goods are crap, case and point most software.
