Climate study predicts a watery future for New York, Boston and Miami
Guardian ^ | 7/29/13 | Suzanne Goldenberg

More than 1,700 American cities and towns – including Boston, New York, and Miami – will have significant populations living below the high-water mark by the end of this century, a new climate change study has found.

Those 1,700 towns are locked into a watery future by greenhouse gas emissions already built up in the atmosphere, the analysis published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on Monday found. For nearly 80 of those cities, the watery future would come much sooner, within the next decade.

"Even if we could just stop global emissions tomorrow on a dime, Fort Lauderdale, Miami Gardens, Hoboken, New Jersey will be under sea level," said Benjamin Strauss, a researcher at Climate Central, and author of the paper. But dramatic cuts in emissions – much greater than Barack Obama and other world leaders have so far agreed – could save nearly 1,000 of those towns, by averting the sea-level rise, the study fund.

What is the difference between you and the Palestinians who danced in the streets?

Hmmm....let me think. Well for one thing, I'm a Conservative and you wear a diaper on your head 24/7.

Irene fizzled?

It caused billions in damage in NY, NJ, CT, and VT. My two neighbors lost all of their furniture and sustained structural damage to their homes

Anyone who roots for the deaths of Americans is a traitor. This is indisputable. You should come here and explain your beliefs to some of us so that we could give you what you so richly deserve.

Fizzled as in respect to evacuating New York city. Bloomberg experienced a big backlash from that. Or have you forgotten ?

What does that have to do with the reality of the weather event?

94-41 43rd avenue, elmhurst, ny. If you plan on expressing your ideas there, there is no need for a round trip ticket. My guss is that you could not afford that anyway.

Tell them that you want NYC to cease to exist. It will be pretty funny.

Very simply put. Bloomberg hyped Irene because he believes in the now falsified AGW premise. So he ordered the evacuation of New York, when it should not have been evacuated for Irene. Thus when Sandy occurred the next year, many did not evacuate. That made it worse for the people living in the area. Sandy was worse then Irene because of the combined effects you noted and many weather forecasters noted beforehand.

While Bloomberg is at a level of horse manure, Irene did some serious damage in my neighborhood. The three houses next to me lost everything. The brunt of the storm destroyed upstate NY, CT and VT. It paled in comparison to Sandy but it was a major weather event.

I still can’t get over that POS who believes God or karma gave NY what it deserved and am frankly disappointed that no one else here called out this piece of traitorous vermin.

Have any of these goofball 'scientific' predictions ever come true?

Interesting concept. When a "religious" prediction of doom and gloom doesn't pan out, the predictor is called a lunatic, a fanatic, or much worse.

When a "scientific" prediction of doom and gloom doesn't pan out, the predictor is hailed for alerting us to the danger and given a mega-grant by the government to come up with more goofball predictions that also will not come true. Either that, or the timeline is such that the prediction will happen long after anyone associated with it has long since assumed room temperature.

Spin it any way you want. Rooting for deaths of Americans makes you a traitor. There is no lower form of life in this country.

The general rule of thumb is, do not feed the trolls. There are many people trying to divide the nation. Even the person occupying the oval office.

Glad to see that someone else understands that he is a phony.

In retrospect, I guess I shouldn’t have taken the bait from the troll.
