More than 1,700 American cities and towns – including Boston, New York, and Miami – will have significant populations living below the high-water mark by the end of this century, a new climate change study has found.
Those 1,700 towns are locked into a watery future by greenhouse gas emissions already built up in the atmosphere, the analysis published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on Monday found. For nearly 80 of those cities, the watery future would come much sooner, within the next decade.
"Even if we could just stop global emissions tomorrow on a dime, Fort Lauderdale, Miami Gardens, Hoboken, New Jersey will be under sea level," said Benjamin Strauss, a researcher at Climate Central, and author of the paper. But dramatic cuts in emissions – much greater than Barack Obama and other world leaders have so far agreed – could save nearly 1,000 of those towns, by averting the sea-level rise, the study fund.

We have close to 400 ft. of salt water frontage. The town keeps raising taxes in spite of the “fact” that we’ll be among the first to get submerged.
Also, I haven’t had any luck in offering up to $10,000 for ocean front homes. I’d think that these people would take the money and head for the hills.

If the left believed this, they’d take steps to mitigate it, dikes, dams, pumps, walls, massive movement away from the coast, forced resettlement. Instead they want Global Governance of all energy sources, run from a central control authority (I read the climate conference papers).

Ice does float but the ice these dire predictions are talking about is the 99% of frozen fresh water in two places, Greenland and Antartica. This is all on land masses and if it melted the seas would rise.
It would almost all have to melt for the oceans to rise that much, which is very unlikely.
Anyway the Dutch have handled it and given time we could too.
Good, lets defund every city that is scheduled to be underwater.

Sorry for your loss, but according to wikipedia Sandy made landfall near Brigantine, New Jersey,[33] with winds of 80 mph (130 km/h). It was a weak Cat 1 at landfall.
Now according to Joe Bastardi, when you have a cold Pacific and a warm Atlantic, which we have, historically you get hurricanes traveling up the east coast. So it could happen again this summer. Did you abandon the property or are you rebuilding ?
It’s more likely that space aliens will destroy New York, than rising oceans!
Bloomberg should just create a new city tax to pay for all the dams and dykes he needs to control HIS environment.

Right now the global sea ice area is almost exactly at the norm for the years 1978-2008. Most of this year it has been slightly above the norm. For the person who mentioned Greenland, a decline in Northern Hemisphere sea ice has been offset by a rise in Southern Hemisphere sea ice.

Sea level there does not seem to be troubling the AGW crowd.

Do you have any evidence other than what "they" said and you do know that the Greenland ice sheet does melt to some extent every summer? Greenland derives its name from the fact that around 900 AD the coastal areas really were green and capable of supporting Norse communities of farmers. So a melt off would not be unprecedented but satellite polar ice surveys and reports the national media ignore indicate that winter sea ice reached record levels this year. And the global climate for about the last fifteen years has stabilized or gotten colder. That collates nicely with the past few decades trend in decreased solar activity. There was a post about that here a couple days ago.
Hurricane numbers and intensity overall have been low in comparison with several periods in the last hundred years. Katrina and Sandy bracketed a ten year lull. I am sorry that doesn't provide any comfort to you over the loss of your house but those are the facts.

If the CO2 is already in the atmosphere. Might as well crank up the SUV. Buy a motorhome and go cranking all over the place because the damage is done.
It is also thought that there has been no overall loss of ice in the world during the past 17 years. The amount of ice in Antarctica has been growing faster than the amount of of ice has been decreasing in Greenland and glaciers in the Northern hemisphere.
Ice melting at the North Pole has a negligible effect on sea level because it is floating in the Arctic Ocean. As an experiment for the kids place ice in a glass and fill it with water. Place a mark at the level of the water, let the ice melt and see what happens to the water level.
Virtually all of the computer models that have been used to predict global warming failed to predict the current lull in the rise of temperatures. None of the models take into account observed solar activity which has been used for hundreds of years to predict future climate with much greater accuracy than the computer models. Unfortunately, if solar activity turns out to be an accurate indicator of future global temperatures there is a good chance that we will be in for cooling not warming.
