A while back a FReeper castigated me because I made the remark that Little Italy was becoming unsafe (and dirty, to boot).

I intended no offense to Italians, although I would contend that they haven't "controlled" Little Italy for a couple of decades. It's not their fault, really. In fact, there is not a single place inside the Baltimore beltway where I would feel comfortable walking out after dark. Outside the beltway it is getting a little dicey, too. Even faraway Owings Mills is starting to get some of that Dundalk vibe, especially on weekend evenings.

Towson suffers the same problem. . .
