"in my opinion it sounds as if they are pushing a social gospel, and in my understanding and experience a social gospel does not lead to any victory over the darkness."

Not sure who you're talking about here. Who is "they"? And what do you mean by "social gospel." (I know some people mean "socialism," but I'm not sure if that's what you mean.)

"... because of your worship of the Catholic religion, over the Word of God."

Untrue. I do not worship the Catholic religion, and I do worship the One True God. Perhaps you had somebody else in mind: that can happen in a thread with approaching-400 replies. Dizzying!

"This is like saying I can not condemn a glutton, who seeks God and is on a diet."

An interesting example. And, yes, that would be my position: I do not condemn a glutton who seeks God and is on a diet. That pretty much describes me. I did confess glutton the last time I went to confession, by the way. That was nine days ago. And here I am eating a Reese's cup.

"We are designed to acknowledge all of our sin, and hand them over to God... Yes, Homosexuality is a sin, therefore confess and repent because the kingdom of God is near."

Amen.

"Saying ,as long as the sinner has hate in heart but doesn’t act on it- IS FINE WITH ME, says that there is no need for that transformation we read about in Romans and Galatians."

Nobody is saying that. Hatred in the heart, if a person intentionally entertains those hateful thoughts, is a sin, just like lust in the heart is a sin. It is a sin in thought. However, a temptation to hatred or lust, which one struggles against and asks the grace of God to overcome, is not a sin. It is a temptation. There is a difference.

"We are to be transformed, reborn, made new- letting the old man die, seeking to become perfect like Christ. The homosexual needs to change his heart and be transformed."

Amen.

"It is very clear. And if the Pope has not been chosen to judge what is right... WHY is he the Pope?"

He already judged that homosexuality is a sin. (Said so right in this interview.) He has judged that it is wrong. What he said was, "If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?" It is the person he is not judging. Like the publican at the back of the Temple, who was evidently a person of good will searching for the Lord, who said "O God, have mercy on me, a sinner."

"Men and women are send to Judge what is right. Was that not the role of the Pope in the first place?"

Amen. But he said homosexuality is a sin.

I don't know anything about Rick Warren. I take it he's an Evangelical minister of some sort?

Great reply, Mrs. Don-o. The only thing I would add is this:

"It is very clear. And if the Pope has not been chosen to judge what is right... WHY is he the Pope?"

The key point here is that the Pope has and does judge what is right. He is not in a position (as these evangelicals are demanding) to judge who is right (or wrong) in the eyes of God and therefore bound for heaven (or hell).

It's a distinction that, I don't know, people here seem to be deliberately missing.
