Oh, I do hope you decide to post it! It pleases me to no end to be in your line of thought.

"Oh, I do hope you decide to post it!"

Dear Sister, your wish is my command: '-)

Of course, there is a ready "explanation" (well, almost) for the anisotropy: It's called, "BOSS" (no joke or pun intended...):

"BOSS" (Baryon [acoustic] Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey

As stated on that page:

"BOSS: Dark Energy and the Geometry of Space The SDSS-III's Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) will map the spatial distribution of luminous red galaxies (LRGs) and quasars to detect the characteristic scale imprinted by baryon acoustic oscillations in the early universe. Sound waves that propagate in the early universe, like spreading ripples in a pond, imprint a characteristic scale on cosmic microwave background fluctuations. These fluctuations have evolved into today's walls and voids of galaxies, meaning this baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) scale (about 150 Mpc) is visible among galaxies today. "

(Emphasis mine...)

This concept is illustrated above, as the latter image in my comment #66. (The SDSS website states that some of the relative scales were exaggerated for illustration purposes).

Of course, the above "(almost) explanation" begs the question,

What (or Who) initiated the (anisotropic) acoustical baryon oscillations -- ("sound waves") within the compresed, isotropic volume of energy/matter that, supposedly, expanded / transmuted from the initial (pure energy?) singularity?

That question would seem to be a far stretch -- were it not for this passage preserved and passed down to us for millenia by our Judaic spiritual "elder brothers":

Genesis 1
New International Version (NIV)

The Beginning (Emphasis added)

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

YMMV, but, I find it striking that -- millenia before humankind had any concept of baryons perturbed by acoustic vibrations -- or of energy / matter bound into darkness by gravity until until expansion reached the point where free photons were able to exist -- the selfsame events were described in this primitive manner that presaged our discovery or theorizing about them.

Granted, if today, the same revelations were made, no doubt, better terms than "the waters", "the deep" and "the earth" (before it existed) would be available for use. Not so for the scribe (Moses?) who, millenia ago. recorded the same events we discuss today -- in a vowel-less proto-language that lacked the concepts (much less the terms) to describe them as we would today. As a physical chemist, I find it striking that we are just now struggling to understand and describe events that were recorded for us (strikingly well, considering the linguistic / conceptual limitations, IMHO) many millenia ago, in our primitive past...

"Baryon acoustic vibrations...

"And God said..."

Hmmmm... 'Werry interestink.'.. '-)
