That (volumetrically) is how I mentally depict time. However, since I'm confined to a 2-D medium and, at present, am most interested in depicting a sequence of universal events, I have chosen to use my 2-D representation of what I call "'Universal Now' slices"'.
"Universal Now" is a concept that A-G & bb and I have been discussing (and I've strived to illustrate) off-and on for a while now. The ability to actually view and experience true "Universal Now" instants is strictly limited to beings with attributes that only God possesses: God is..
At any instant, (present, future or past) only He can see (and examine in situ) the real-time state of every object in His universe.
We, OTOH, are firmly bound by the speed of light and distance. Realistically, we have only had observational ability to view the actual states of celestial objects for a hundred years or so. That means our actual knowledge is confined to a hundred light-year spherical radius. For all we know, everything beyond that radius has changed to strawberry jam... '-)
I simulate such by depicting universal time as a tubular volume, expanding as it progress, with time progression along its central axis, and with "Universal Now" events depicted as universe-spanning slices across the tube.
Now that I have "time-order animated" the image in #182 by building a progression of "slices", I find the result to be satisfying -- considering it is limited to a 2D-1T depiction...
FWIW, I have already progressed beyond the scope of the static image to include HST observations, and am now trying to figure out how to incorporate SDSS "macro-structural data"...
Well, enough "explainifying"! Back to work trying to figure how to output vector objects, etc., from Canvas X to a medium (PowerPoint or video movie) that "the rest of the world" can view on their computers. [Methinks I see a lot of individual image-rendering time in my future...] :-(
I believe the Universal Now slices are quite revealing just as they are. And to present them step by step would be very illuminating!
In my view, addressing a second dimension of time in the graphic would entail either compressing the entire graphic into a single image (in the Tegmark metaphor of frog and bird, the bird sees the movie a frame at a time but the bird sees it all at once) - or alternatively, as a hyper-space (a five-space that rotates the forward frame, the observer perspective.)
Both I think would be difficult for the reader and therefore would prefer to see MHGinTN address volumetric time in a separate graphic not tied to your Science/Scripture graphic which is best understood sequentially as it is written both in Scripture and in the CMB or observed history of the universe.
