The first time you get laid off, it is the most frightening thing imaginable. The second time is a lot less frightening. The third time, it’s “ho-hum, here we go again.” Speaking from personal experience, here. Working for very small companies has a lot of risks.

I was laid off twice, in 1989 and 1996 and both times resulted in very positive career advancements in new jobs in different locations.

It’s not then end of the world. It’s a temporary setback and it’s a very important message from the market.
