I was thinking of pinging this out and then saw Taliesan's comment. Excellent analysis and I agree in every particular but one - any authentic religion will also curb the animal sex drive and make it sacred within marriage, when not preventing conception. So sincere followers of authentic (ie not modernized into nonsense) Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism as well as Christianity will also share the same moral values and restraints. Islam is a whole 'nother ballgamem as he notes.

Anyone wanting on/off any of my pinglists, freepmail me.

Taliesan's comment... Excellent analysis and I agree in every particular but one - any authentic religion will also curb the animal sex drive and make it sacred within marriage, when not preventing conception.

While this is theoretically true, pop culture, electronic media, the OneWorld financial/political incursion and secularist cultural Marxism are fast neutering or destroying all religions.

But I think Taliesan was referring not to the place of marriage within most religions so much as the history of world events that unfolded when Christian societies were dominant: the nearly two millenia when Christendom was ascendant in Europe, Australia, Canada, South America and the United States, starting even before the Arthurian courts and chivalry towards women, through the Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution and the outlawing of slavery, to the rise of our nation -- which sends armies to defend freedom itself, not to take hostages or territory.

As Taliesan pointed out, when the U.S. began allowing Christian-inspired social ethics to be thrown aside since WWII, down it has all swirled.
