U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry expressed deep concern on Saturday over the bloodshed and violence in Egypt that has killed and injured scores, saying the country faced a pivotal moment, Al Arabiya reported.
Kerry, in a statement following calls with Egyptian and European officials, also urged an independent and impartial inquiry into the events of the past 24 hours and urged all of the Egypts leaders to act to help their country take a step back from the brink.
At least 65 people were killed during clashes in Cairo early Saturday, Egypts Health Ministry said, after violence erupted at a demonstration in support of ousted President Mohammed Morsi.
The ministry said nine others died in violence in Egypts second city Alexandria, putting the toll in two days of unrest at 74. The Muslim Brotherhood, however, claimed that the death toll was much higher and that about 120 people were killed in what the movement described as a massacre in an attempt to complete the coup.
This is a pivotal moment for Egypt, Kerry said, according to Al Arabiya.
Over two years ago, a revolution began. Its final verdict is not yet decided, but it will be forever impacted by what happens right now, he said.
Kerry also said that, at a time of extreme volatility, Egyptian authorities have a moral and legal obligation to respect the right of peaceful assembly and freedom of expression.
Violence not only further sets back the process of reconciliation and democratization in Egypt, but it will negatively impact regional stability, he said.

I’m deeply concerned about all of the above. And they don’t care.
Is "impact" now a verb?
It's not a legitimage verb, though it's used that way. "Impactful" isn't a legitimate adjective, though it, too, has been wrenched and twisted into serving as a fake adjective. I still haven't seen anyone sign an E-mail message, "Impactfully yours," but have faith it won't take much longer.
Like stupidity, illiteracy occasionally soars to dizzying heights of creativity. That's when the frantically flapping cardboard wings normally fall off.
At least when Fred Gwynne put on the long face as Hermann Munster there was comic acting.
He never expected to be taken seriously unlike what’s his name.
When Sampson in the Book of Judges claims to have slain a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of an áss, he wasn’t talking about the blabbering áss John Kerry.
Gee..........
Bad guys are killing other bad guys—whilst BOTH are killing the remaining Christians.
Praise the Lord and pass (them) the ammunition. GUNS, RPGs etc to the Coptics.
Passs ME the popcorn. (Got beer?)
Talk about chickens coming home to roost...this is Obama foreign policy in its grandeur.
Personally, as long as the Egyptian Army is whacking the Muslim Brotherhood and leaving the Christians alone, I say more power to them. Amen!
But...but...his boss is the Magic Negro. He can stop the Earth from turning.
The State Department. Does. Not. Make. Mistakes. Ever. It’s the rest of the world that keeps failing to live up to the State Department’s instructions./s

From what I read, Egyptians on all sides of the issue don't believe we're concerned about anything but the Brotherhood
