However, if you've just emailed friends saying 'the FBI is investigating me' and 'I need to go off the radar awhile,' you’re not dealing with normal circumstances.

If FBI is following and/or watching you, and you’re trying to make it to the airport at 4:30am when you’re almost 'the only vehicle on the road,' you might not head for the almost-empty freeway where you’d stick out like a sore thumb from the ground AND air."

He "just emailed" his friends 15 hours prior to the accident which is less than 24 hours but more than immediately prior. Why the delay if he was in fear of an investigation, or worse, his very life?

See: KTLA's Exclusive: Hastings Sent Colleagues Email Hours Before Crash : "The email was sent just before 1 p.m. on Monday, 15 hours before the deadly crash."

Unless he was a new resident of L.A., or if this had been his first visit to L.A. and he was lost, the freeway at that hour would have been the easiest, fastest and safest route for him to get to LAX, that is, if he was even driving to LAX. Unfortunately due to severe budget cutbacks in the CHP, freeways have been less monitored and patrolled than surface streets for the past 20 years and L.A. residents are well aware of it.

Yet he was driving on a highly patrolled surface street which would not have been a good alternate route or even likely surface street to get to LAX. Reports have said that his car was speeding, that he ran a red light and then crashed into a palm tree in the center divider in a residential area.

Yet it is difficult to speed on Highland Avenue at any hour because traffic lights are timed to prevent it.

The red light timing along with the report of him blowing through just the one red light render speculations that he was speeding to LAX using Highland Avenue, as improbable and unlikely.

Theories about his car having mechanical difficulties such as a stuck accelerator; or his having some kind of medical emergency; or even someone hacking into his car's system seem more reasonable than his taking that particular surface street to get to LAX, if in fact, that was where he was even headed.

It does remain a tragic accident with many unanswered questions.

“.......for him to get to LAX, that is, if he was even driving to LAX.”

Okay, fine. What’s your theory.

Where was Hastings going in Los Angeles at 4:30AM?
