I get that . . . but when folks run around professing that they'd prefer Putin over Obama, they betray their ignorance of both. With Obama, there's still a glimmer of hope that things get better (all sorts of cards need to fall the right way, of course). If we actually had someone like Putin in office, our Republic would be finished. Finished.

I certainly would not prefer Putin. He is a KGB thug after all—and despite his anti-homosexual stance and his overtures to the Orthodox Church that doesn’t erase what he is.

You do bring up a larger issue though. One has to also examine where they think our Republic is right now. Are we in such a shambles that the Republic is nonredeemable at this point?

It’s like the Freepers around here who lament the fact that some politician or talking head doesn’t say the right thing, “Oh, if only they said this or made this point instead of that, or they didn’t emphasize this enough, because we’re in the know.” Give me a break. These people think and talk like there is still a PR fight to be won. The country has decided. One side or the other. Forget the middle—if it even exists at this point. IMO it’s over—gear up and be ready at this point.
