In the mean time, a lot of people are getting very rich.

I think the Republican "leadership" know we are up poop creek. They don't even know how to begin to solve it. They were long ago neutered and rendered impotent. And you are so right...lots of feathering of nests going on before the big implosion. The John McCains and the Lindsey Grahams and the John Boehners and the Bush dynasty all make me ill. About the only two I trust are Palin and Tancredo.

BINGO!

But I also think their families have been threatened and they are allowed to make noises but don’t dare cross the line.

It’s too far gone. No man or woman could step in and fix this mess.

They’re keeping the world financial mess together with gum and tape. That kind of band aid can’t hold forever.

FYI-

In 1787, Alexander Tytler of the University of Edinborough wrote that all
democracies go through eight stages, two hundred years being the average cycle
time. The stages are:

From bondage to spiritual faith;

From spiritual faith to great courage;

From courage to liberty;

From liberty to abundance;

From abundance to complacency;

From complacency to apathy;

From apathy to dependence;

From dependence back to bondage.

We’re facing a Perfect Storm. The above stages do not account for economic turmoil/collapse.
