MADISON, Wis. -- The civil unrest that filled the streets of Wisconsin's Capitol Square two years ago has long since dissipated. The roads are quieter, no longer littered with signs and bumper stickers and angry petitioners trying to oust the governor. Midwest manners have returned to once bitterly divided neighborhoods.
The furor over Gov. Scott Walker's decision to curb the collective bargaining powers of most public employee unions culminated in 2011 in a massive, extended protest by workers and their allies, the spectacle of Democratic lawmakers fleeing the Capitol to prevent the proposal's passage and a recall election that ultimately failed to force Walker from office. But it also shifted the national spotlight onto a Republican governor who until then was virtually unknown outside his state, propelling Walker to political stardom and a potential run for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.

Press attention has shifted to the likes of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who is far better known nationally than Walker, and Sens. Marco Rubio, of Florida, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Ted Cruz of Texas, all of whom get far more notice from Beltway insiders than the governor of Wisconsin.

This is a candidate that I could get interested in. A whole lot better governor than Christie.
I like Walker.
Walker, Paul and Cruz are much better choices than Jeb Bush, Chris Christie and Marco Rubio!
I HATE Walker for national office. He is great in Wisconsin, but he is a “Dreamer.” His stance on illegal immigration would eventually sink us.
Do some research.
This is good news that he may run for Presidency. He’ll have my vote if he does.
Doesn’t he support amnesty? Also didn’t he accept the Obamacare healthcare exchanges?
I will- but the way we’re headed we are going to get some version of Dream..sickening.

We may already be sunk before his hat goes in the rink because of LESSER men like Jeb and Christie's support of it.

No, but that is the stinker that spoils it for me. It's like a teaspoon of raw sewage in a barrel of fresh drinking water.
Walker would be an ideal presidential candidate. Unlike many republicans, he knows he’s in a war...
And has the scars to prove it.

He’s been commendably stand-up on several fronts, but the amnesty thing is an absolute killer with me. I’ll never under any circumstances vote for any candidate supporting it.
Chris Christie and Marco Rubio have burned that bridge as far as party clarity, cohesion. Jeb Bush is milqtoast and is chained at the ankle to his father and brother. Paul has his own set of links and chains. Cruz is a flash in the pan. Walker will (unfairly) be just another white guy.
And Sarah Palin has been put on a pedestal as a caricature.
Walker will have to define himself clearly as a NO BILL on amnesty candidate, as well as oppose the NSA spy program among other things.
I gave him money for his last fight, but I’m holding back now because I suspect that in the end he is one of the 90 percent plus of them business as usual politician crowd.
As if Hillary Clinton has no baggage. Who would you prefer to run?
Back in the 1970’s they hated Nixon and Ford and fought both tenaciously but that did not make either of the Republicans real conservatives.
