the “excerpt” link works but the one at the top of the page doesn’t and this makes no sense being the Excerpt link is derived from the required link in the posting page.

Those guys have no idea how to run a business.

When the lady came in and presented a bill for 18,000 if it had been me I would have told her that was much too low a figure considering how stupid the error was and all the trouble it had caused her.

I would have tripled it and groveled before her begging her forgiveness.

To have done otherwise would have interfered with my ability to sleep nights.... but then I’m honest, as are 99.99% of Freepers.

This was the best thing I've ever heard on Beck's radio show, he basically promised to make those idiots wish they'd never been born if they don't settle with this lady.

The way I read the story, it wasn't even clear this was her bank or the bank which held her mortgage.

I literally live within "Rock throwing" distance of the bank. I can step out my front door and check their marquee for the Time and Temperature.

The Woman's account was not only NOT in arrears with the First National Bank of Wellston, she has never had an account with them let alone a mortgage.

My thoughts exactly. I could not have found a release letter fast enough.

I’d have gone to the vault and gotten cash in any denomination she wanted.

These people are dopes.

Why hasn’t this become a police matter?

$18,000 would cover our bedroom furniture and our clothes, maybe. Good quality furniture and top-of-the-line Sleep Number beds aren’t cheap.

These people are out of their minds. I’d immediately offer her DOUBLE the value of her stuff if she would sign a non-disclosure, agree to not press criminal charges, and release the bank from future claims, ASAP. They are CRUISIN’ for a brusin’, criminal and civil.

Stupid thing is, the cops said there was no issue, case closed to them.

The nation is corrupt and lawless.

EGGSactly Batman!

But here is the real rub. Rumor has it her family pictures and heirlooms (Family quilts and furniture handed down from prior generations) were either destroyed or disposed of and can't be recovered AND THE BANK WANTS TO HAGGLE!

If this gets to court those pictures and such are gonna cost the bank tenfold what she was asking for!

Although it would be wrong to “profile” all banking professionals, some I have met do carry quite an attitude. One literally spoke of being able to “buy and sell” people. If I had been a little older and wiser at the time I would have called him on it. An opportunity missed.

According to this article the bank depended on a GPS to find the property. UMMM, since foreclosure proceedings typically cost big bucks, what's another couple of hundred or so to pay a visit to a place called the county clerk's office and obtain a survey of the proerty in question to help verify it's location? Actually, since the bank holds a mortgage they should already have a copy from the closing.

Pretty much sounds like a case of burglary. Any reason the fools couldn’t be prosecuted??

Oh it gets better. If you've ever messed with Consumer grade GPS devices the best of them have an average error rate of over 20 feet BUT they get less accurate the closer you get to large structures like...

wait for it...

wait for it...

HOUSES!

the mind boggles st such stupidity!
