jury of white women

Why didn’t the jury contain some blacks? Some men?

I suppose the prosecution approved of the jury’s members. Seems odd, though, that there were no blacks.

The prosecution knocked out one potential black juror because that person watched Fox News.

Yep, juries are approved by both the prosecution and defense.

Why?

Blacks make up something like 10% of the county, its not too odd that out of 6 there would be 5 white and 1 other.

The prosecution nixed a black off the jury pool because he regularly watched Fox News.

There was a potential juror who was black.

I think the prosecution excused the juror because the juror admitted to watching Fox News.

I believe the prosecution did what they did to satisfy Corey.

The cops didn't charge Z 'cause St. Trayvon was just another dead ****** , and Z told a plausable story.

Only weeks later did al dulldumb push to rile the natives that gave Corey the idea that it should be a national trial.

I firmly believe the prosecution intentionally threw the game.

Nothing else explains all the defense witnesses the prosecution called.

Seems odd, though, that there were no blacks.

There was at least one black in the jury pool who was eliminated by the prosecution.

Read more here:

ll Women Jury Selected in George Zimmerman Trial

O’Mara added that “the state struck the first Black juror and then we got our six.” He continued: “I had questions about two Black jurors on their ability to be fair and impartial and we talked about that. That’s been I think now put on the record when it comes to my thoughts and the judge agreed that they were race neutral reasons. So while people can look at it and have this reaction: there’s no Blacks on the jury, there’s no this, or there’s no that, tell me we did something wrong in the process and I’ll agree with you. If you look at this process and I’ll agree with you if you look at the process and say it was done fairly than the result was fair.”

Attorneys for Trayvon Martin’s parents issued a statement after the jury was chosen, saying:

“This case has always been about equal justice. Equal justice under the law is not a Black value or a White value. It’s an American value. With the makeup of this jury, the question of whether every American can get equal justice regardless of who serves on their jury panel will be answered. We expect the jury pool to do their duty and be fair and impartial. We firmly believe that when these jurors see the overwhelming evidence that will be put before them in the coming weeks, they will find George Zimmerman guilty of murder on the night in question.”

America has an extraordinarily peculiar and, IMO, counter-productive jury selection system.

In Britain a pool of perhaps 200 is brought in, any obvious challenges dealt with, such as family members of cops, etc. Then a random jury is chosen for each trial by a computer.

I think such a system is better than our present one of spending weeks or months with the two sides competing to stack the deck.

IIRC the prosecution and defense have a certain amount of potential jurors they can reject but basically both sides do agree on the jury selections. Trust me if the prosecution even thought for a second they didn’t have a fair say in jury selection we would have heard about before now.

“Why didn’t the jury contain some blacks? Some men?”

There was a black man but the prosecution didn’t want him. They want an all female jury to play upon the emotions.
