A former director of a unit within the U.S. Department of Justice the Community Relations Service said he regularly issued warnings to employees who favored advocacy over law or used their positions to push personal agendas based on perceived biases.
The CRS is supposed to provide conflict resolution and mediation services.
I found that some employees of CRS talked neutrally in public and spoke in the tenor of mediators in public, but behind the scenes, when they talked to the civil rights groups or the perceived aggrieved parties, theyll say, essentially, Dont worry. The Department of Justice is here and were going to get to the bottom of it, said Ondray T. Harris, former CRS director, The Blaze reported.
Mr. Harris first made the statements to The Daily Caller that he regularly had to warn or take corrective action against career employees for acting as advocates instead of mediators.
His claim comes on the heels of recent reports that members of the CRS headed to Florida to help organize protests against George Zimmerman in 2012. And Mr. Harris said of the CRS regional director who went to Sanford, Fla., for that mission Thomas Battles that he was black, and very pro-black, The Blaze reported.

Well, duh!
The CRS component needs to be completely eliminated and EVERY single civil service employee in it needs to be cashiered. Let them get out and actually work for a living and stop leeching off of the wealth created by the hard working folks in private enterprise.
DOJ is probably the last dept we’ll get any revenge on for what they do to us.
It’s good that he is an ex-employee, if he were there now they would fire him or worse. I hope they can’t get at his pension.
Unfortunately, over the last few years, the Civil Rights Division at the Justice Department has seen instances of embezzlement, employee abuse, harassment, theft, and perjury. Little to nothing has been done by Division management in response. In some cases, Division management has defended, promoted or given awards to the wrongdoers. The Division has implemented hiring practices which, according to the Justice Department Inspector General, have created the perception of an ideologically lopsided workforce. Division management has rejected the recommendations of the nspector General and resisted making changes to ensure non-ideological hiring at the Division.
Tragically, the Civil Rights Division has also pursued abusive and meritless cases against Americans who are exercising free speech rights, as well as states enacting voter integrity measures so meritless that courts have imposed cost sanctions against the Division. The Division has once again returned to the unsavory practice criticized by federal courts over the years by acting as advocates and partners of outside interest groups instead of behaving as a neutral and detached law enforcement agency. Simply, the Civil Rights Division under the current management has perversely abused the civil rights of Americans, abused the fiscal trust of the taxpayers and abused the rule of law.
