EDMOND Karl Rove said the federal government does not track the phone calls or emails of audience members who listened to him Friday evening at Oklahoma Christian University.
John Goodman, president and CEO of the National Center for Public Analysis, said that he and Rove may disagree on the issue. Goodman questioned Rove in a question and answer session as part of the Four Star Leadership Dinner presented by retired U.S. Army Gen. Tommy Franks. It was co-sponsored by OC and the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs.
Is someone tracking the emails of everybody in this room? Goodman asked Rove, who served as former President George W. Bushs deputy chief of staff from 2004-07.
They keep a database of phone calls made inside the United States, Rove said. And you have no expectation of privacy the Supreme Court has held in the fact that youre making contact. Its not even your information anymore. It belongs to the phone company.
A phone company will keep a record of phone calls in case somebody disputes their bills, Rove said. The federal government collects information regarding who makes phone calls, Rove said.

and to think at one time I actually respected Rove...
Rove has been away too long. He has absolutely no clue what this administration is now doing. I wish he would just go away. He is just so yesterday.
to clarify a bit,
I have the highest respect for NSA people, and agree with Rove that they are charged with an important mission.
my issue is with Rove... that he sounds so naive and disconnected from the people’s concerns....
not a word mentioned by Rove about the political mis-use of the IRS or other governmental offices and data....
people out here have real concerns and Rove seems to have blown right past them ... when he had a perfect opportunity to address them ...
he is either part of the problem or he is two weeks past his “sell by” date and needs to be replaced with fresh goods
Good little bush nazi... rove is just another pol pot in the making.
LLS
He would.
Rove is part of the World Elite and so was Bush.
Spot on as usual
Thank you bro!

Maybe something was lost in translation. I fail to see how the phone companies data (who was called, from where, how long) then becomes data the GOV’T can collect.
Plus, I DO have an expectation of privacy, I’m not shouting out my conversation for all to hear. I presume he’d have no problems opening and scanning each letter in the mail for the same reason.
Maybe Rove needs to sit down, shut the F* up, and COMPREHEND the 4th A: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”. Seems pretty lock-tight to me.
You tell me how private citizen Rove would now more than the people asking the question. If he does know more as he implies then someone is breaking laws.
You are supporting it out of ignorance. You have no idea what the various government agencies are doing behind our backs.
Rove has a bad case of McCainus Rinosus. He's become a totally clueless fool who is doing fatal harm to the GOPe brand. Good.
Having no clue what else is on Ed Snowden’s thumb drive...he is really crawling far out on the limb there.
Rove went over to the dark side long ago.
