There is a chamber music series at the University of South Carolina at Beaufort, and I attend many of the Sunday afternoon concerts. It's a reasonable drive for me.

During my Tea Party days, I moderated a debate among office seekers for a county position. One lady running was a black lady who had raised her son as a single mother, and he was now at Parris Island at boot camp. She was a formidable figure and had boned up on the issues. I told her I suspected her son had told the DI that boot camp was a vacation compared to life with Mama. She laughed uproariously and told me the DI had spent some time with her asking for training tips.

And what a great story, appreciate you sharing it!
