I wouldn’t see Z’s lawyers short. They ran circles around the prosecution.
They have maintained from the start that the justice system should be untainted by politics. To jump into the political fray now would be hypocritical.
It wouldn’t be hard to run circles around the sad team that was expected to make a silk purse out of that... not even a sow’s ear, more like a mass of rotten worms.
