Agreed. Especially by someone who is less conservative, though her rhetoric may be more fiery.
She's very good for those who support gay activists or suppression of civil liberties.
I think this article describes Enzi’s problem perfectly. He never fights for conservatism, he’s just a placemarker, and a back bencher at best. Kaslin has a great series of articles about this race that will put it in better perspective. By default, all American politicians are strong on foreign policy simply because we had a military budget that exceeds that of the rest of the world combined. That gives us on-call options nobody else has.

That’s your argument? You have it exactly backwards. They vote conservative around election time then when safely reelected, they go left (see John McCain, Orrin Hatch). The exception to that rule is Richard Lugar, who didn’t really feel the need to vote conservative to try to get reelected. He was from Indiana after all. And he was removed from power. Lindsey Graham is trying to play the same game and is betting that the people of SC will reelect him.
Enzi’s at 75% now. In six years he’ll be in the 60’s if not the 50’s. And agewise, Enzi will be in his 70’s with all the fight gone out of him “sure, Jim, I’ll give you a vote, sounds good to me.” 18 years is long enough. Were I in Wyoming, I would vote for somebody else.

If you’re going to kick them out no matter what they do, you have absolutely no leverage over them.
And your conservatism methodology is flawed. The first, second and third most important conservative votes in the Senate this year were Rubio’s amnesty bill. Pretty much that’s the only thing the Senate has voted on of consequence, and it’s huge.
I’m not certain, but I believe Heritage is the only organization you factored into your conservatism scale that opposed Rubio’s amnesty. That means, not only was Enzi getting dinged for his strong position on illegal immigration, but then you were comparing his record with the records of all the Senate GOPe jellyfish who voted FOR it—they got a boost in their records for an incredibly terrible vote!
I’m not kicking them around no matter what they do, I kick they around for what they have done, or failed to do. It’s called holding politicans accountable and rotation in office. Is Enzi the only man in the state?? Are there not two legislative bodies full of experienced legislators? There is no reason why Enzi alone needs to be sent back except that “we’re used to him” and “he hasn’t been all that bad” or “others have been worse.”
I’ve stopped making excuses for these politicians. A 69 year old, 18 year in the office politican should be replaced with somebody else. I live in MA. Kennedy was senator for forty-seven years here. And Kerry for nearly thirty. These people stay in office too long and don’t retire.
For Mike Enzi it’s time to say, you served us well, but it’s time for somebody else. Somebody younger, who’s not afraid to do battle with the socialists. And we don’t need you to hang around just to be Mr. Chariman again.
Heritage was one of four. Freedomworks is also against Amnesty. And the other two were all 2012 votes, when there were no immigration votes. Enzi rated highly (92% on ACU) on only one of them, and that raised his overall percentage. So in reality his rating is in the low 70’s and of course with longevity, that just trends downward. Go check the questions on the ratings if your curious, but the average shows he hasn’t been voting too well when he’s not in the top twenty senators in a caucus that has only 45 or 47 people, depending on the year.
I don’t understand why people always defend these politicians, just because they’re already in the seat. It’s Wyoming. An easy republican seat. Nominate a young, strong conservative, just as Texas and Utah did. No democrat would stand a chance.
Hey, if WY has a stronger, young, better conservative ready to take Enzi on, I’m all for it.
But Liz Cheney, I’m quite certain, ain’t it.
She should have run in VA rather than carpetbagging up to WY.
Same reason Rob Portman does. Neither of 'em belong in the Senate.
