TALLAHASSEE (CBS Miami) – Following the not guilty verdict in the George Zimmerman trial, some Florida students have joined together to call for a “Trayvon Martin Civil Rights Act”.

Oxymoron. No, actually, that's a contradiction. Vigilantism is the antithesis of standing your ground.

To be a vigilante, you would have to take the ground to confront the bad-deed-doer, such as approaching an alleged gay rapist and punching him in the face for following you.

The death of Trayvon Martin and subsequent appropriate acquittal of his killer has exposed an unfortunate culture of ignornance of young people of all colors in Florida (and pretty much everywhere else).

The Miami School District has a scandal brewing over the falsification of records of Trayvon Martin being caught with stolen jewelry and a slim jim, and the firing of school district officials for the cover-up.

If Miami school officials had reported his local burglary to the police instead of thinking about their federal funding, Martin wouldn't have been in Sanford in the first place, and would still be alive today.

Liberal Democrat politics killed Trayvon Martin, not George Zimmerman getting out of a car.
