It is one of Britain's poorest boroughs, with almost unmatched levels of deprivation and where at least one in ten are unemployed.
But teenagers in Tower Hamlets have tried to shrug-off this economically-tough climate and spared no expense in hiring many expensive supercars, which often cost more to buy than homes in the area.
These Lamborghinis, Ferraris and even Bentleys on the gritty streets of East London were rented by 16-year-olds to celebrate leaving school, and they proudly admit it's all about 'showing off' and getting time in the 'spotlight'.
The vehicles can cost up to £300,000 to buy, yet one bedroom flats in some parts of the borough are worth as little as £70,000.

London has, uh.... changed since the last time i was there.

I went to see Brigitte Gabriel give a talk recently (authority on Islam’s attempts to take over the west by co-opting our institutions) and she said:

Blech. Just pure ghetto affluenza. Dealt with this crap at my own blue collar high school in the 80’s. Losers who will amount to nothing wanting to roll gangsta in one big moment of glory before they get on the welfare rolls.
They’re not buying these cars. Just renting them for one day. This is pretty typical for prom, even in somewhat poor areas.
I’m actually happy to see these kids going out and socializing with girls. In fundamentalist Islam, the girls would not see the light of day except for maybe her father/husband’s back yard. Most of the violence in Islam is the result of a few rich men imprisoning all women for themselves. Islam revolves around this type of slavery.
Except for the head coverings on the girls, they all look very “western” and that’s a good thing.
Having just returned, I can attest to that. London in some places looked like downtown Tehran.

Eh, if four or five of them want to split the cost of renting one and they want to waste their money, more power to them...although I don’t understand how the rental companies even let them do the renting. It’s sheer hell to rent even a piece of junk car here in the States if you’re under 25 with a job and good credit, much less a group of Tower Hamlets 16-year-old Ali G-wannabes trying to rent a Maybach 62 or a Bentley or a Ferrari TT.

That’s a Ferrari TT. The front end is gorgeous, but in order to make it a four-seater they grafted that hideous Jennifer Lopez backside on it. Not one of Ferrari’s finer design moments IMO.
