On Thursdays Closing Bell on CNBC, former NBA and Auburn University basketball star Charles Barkley sounded off on the George Zimmerman trial verdict with what he called not a very popular opinion.
According to Barkley, the verdict was the proper one but he took it further, criticizing the media for its coverage of racism evinced during the trial.
I agreed with the verdict, Barkley said. I feel sorry that young kid got killed. But they didnt have enough evidence to charge them. Something clearly went wrong that night. Clearly, something went wrong, and I feel bad for anyone losing a kid. But if you looked at the case and you dont make it there was racial profiling, no question about it. But something happened that changed the dynamic of that night. And I know and thats probably not a popular opinion among most people. But looking at the evidence, I agree with the verdict.

Charles is and has a big mouth; he’s said some dumb things in the past...please don’t go down the Republican route with him...it’s a blind alley. He is an 0bummer guy.
He said there was racial profiling in this; that’s incorrect. Charles didn’t listen to the dispatch/read the transcript.
I like Barkley. He says what he thinks and stands by it, and doesn’t put himself on a celebrity all-knowing pedestal.
"Every time I hear the word conservative, it makes me sick to my stomach..."
~Charles Barkley
i don’t agree with him on a lot of stuff.
i do respect him for at least being his own man, and speaking his own conclusions whether they are right or wrong.
he may have refer’d trayvon. he didn’t come out and say who did the profiling.
Barkley is just fearless and is willing to say what he believes. He is more liberal than me, but you have to like someone who is willing to have an open mind and speak the truth.
Charles swerves into the truth...............
"The word conservative means discriminatory practically. It's a form of political discrimination. What do the Republicans run on? Against gay marriage and for a war that makes no sense. A war that was based on faulty intelligence. That's all they ever talk about. That and immigration. Another discriminatory argument for political gain."
So he's evidently pro-homo marriage, pro-illegal scumbag alien, and oh yeah, he supported the Obammunist, too. If he's a Pubbie, he's of the Colin Powell variety.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
I think you're right. "Creepy ass cracker" was the only evidence of racial profiling. GZ was cleared by the FBI after a thorough investigation.
GZ was at least a frustrated citizen who wanted thugs off the streets.
And a thousand pounds of concrete.
I remember Barkley scolding his mother we she complained that the GOP supports rich people. He told her.... “Mom...we are rich”
Yeah, he's a celebretard sports freak.
And does anyone think that a white person going to a black neighborhood is not profiled? If they say they are not profiled, they are lying.
There was no racial profiling. There was thug profiling. I find that most people who feel the verdict was correct are feeling like they HAVE to find some fault with Zimmerman, so they fault him for racial profiling. Otherwise they’d have to say the entire fault lay with Martin, and that would sound so cold and unfair. They think that finding fault on both sides makes them sound fair and balanced.
Somebody in the black community is going to have to talk with Barkley.
He is off the plantation. I pity the thug that tries to have this conversation,as Barkley is one big badass.
Although I don’t agree with everything he says, Barkley is not afraid to say unpopular things. In his circle of friends or among his black friends, I am sure that this opinion would not be popular.
If he watched the entire trial, he should have known there was no racial profiling. He’s just trying to cover his butt on that count.
I know he's put his foot in his mouth a couple of times, but... the dude thinks for himself.
Watch him do an NBA program and you'll disagree with about a lot of what he says, if you're like me, but - the guy thinks for himself and has no problem elucidating. I see him making no effort to be PC, which I like. I enjoy the NBA games he does with Shaquille O'Neal, I think they're both pretty cool guys.
(I know, he said something once about he doesn't like white people. In the first place who says I'm white, and in the second place maybe I just don't care about some generalization made by some black basketball player that might or might not have included people like me...)
