TRAYVON MARTIN PROTEST LEADERS REVEALED. ‘Grassroots’ group actually front for shady figures

Dream Defenders, the main group that has been agitating the protest movement surrounding the Trayvon Martin case, was spawned by activists employed by a who’s who of the race-hijacking radical left.

From the socialist-oriented SEIU union to ACORN to Occupy to a litany of George Soros-funded organizations, the deep connections behind Dream Defenders raises questions about the motivation of an organization that claims to be a grassroots effort working to oppose racism. Dream Defenders has been leading Martin protests since the onset and has been credited with agitating for George Zimmerman’s arrest.

The group was behind the protests that blockaded the Sanford Police Department, demanding the police chief be fired for failing to bring charges against Zimmerman, who was acquitted of second-degree murder Saturday.

The small Community Relations Service at Eric Holder’s Justice Department facilitated a meeting between Dream Defenders and city officials that resulted in a Justice review of the police department.

Sanford police chief Bill Lee was ultimately fired. Lee has claimed he was dismissed for not arresting Zimmerman.

Dream Defenders further led protests and marches demanding Zimmerman’s arrest. Just prior to Zimmerman’s arrest in April 2012, the Justice Department reportedly phoned Dream Defenders to inform the group that Zimmerman was to be arrested within 48 hours.

The group is now organizing protests in the wake of Zimmerman’s acquittal. On Tuesday, Dream Defenders demonstrated outside the Seminole County Capitol building and other locations.

Melanie Andrade, a second-year English student and Dream Defender from Poinciana, discovered the school-to-prison pipeline, following the passing of SB (Senate Bill) 2112. According to a summary from the Florida Senate, the bill allows counties “to operate their own detention facility if they cover the financial cost of detention care for pre-adjudicated juveniles” and provides that a county is exempt from the provisions of sections of Florida Statutes “if they are in compliance with specific provisions.”

Andrade said the law allows juveniles to be housed in adult facilities.

“That’s an atrocity,” she said. “Besides repealing that law, this town hall meeting will shed light on the issues surrounding the school-to-prison pipeline.”

The Dream Defenders oppose the school-to-prison pipeline. The organization believes the pipeline targets at-risk children by throwing them in the juvenile and criminal system.

Elijah Armstrong, a fourth-year political science student from Lakeland and president of The Dream Defenders, said minority children are targeted.

“It is simply the direct funneling of young people, predominantly people of color, into the prison systems from schools,” Armstrong said. “With policies like the zero tolerance policy, kids are criminalized at a young age. In Polk County’s case, children as young as 8 are incarcerated.”

The Dream Defenders received statewide coverage after 15 members were arrested, following an organized blockage of the intersection of Yamato Road and Military Trail in Boca Raton to raise awareness of the criminalization of young black and brown children.

In Tallahassee Tuesday, a student group known as the Dream Defenders, held a rally at the Florida Capitol.

Called a statewide “Day of Action”, the group dedicated to social change through non-violent civil disobedience, is asking Gov. Rick Scott to call a special session of the legislature to review the Stand Your Ground law, among others.

The students began a sit-in at Gov. Scott’s office and said they would stay until they get to speak with the governor. However, Scott was in New York and planned to go later in the day to New Jersey for an television appearance.

On its website, the group posted, “Dream Defenders demand that Governor Rick Scott call a special session of the Florida legislature to address the issues at the center of the Trayvon Martin tragedy: stand your ground vigilantism, racial profiling and a war on youth that paints us as criminals and funnels us out of schools and into jails.”

The group says many state laws disproportionately affect minority youth.

The website states, ”We are here to honor the memory of Trayvon Martin and pay respects to his family. This tragedy serves as a vivid reminder of the pain felt by our communities, in which we are profiled, criminalized and targeted. Unless we take action nothing will change. Saturday’s verdict showed the world that Florida has no value for the life of its children. This is an opportunity for Governor Rick Scott and the Florida legislature to prove their commitment to the next generation of Floridians.”

“Together we are united in ensuring Trayvon’s unjust death was not for nothing. Our anger in the face of gross injustice has led us to take action but it is the love of our people and our community that pushes us forward. We are here because Trayvon can’t be.”

The controversial “Stand Your Ground” law gives a person immunity from prosecution for using deadly force if the person reasonably believes he or she is in danger.

George Zimmerman did not use the Stand Your Ground law defense at his trial, he used self-defense.

Zimmerman was cleared of all charges in the case, and went free on Saturday. His whereabouts are unknown.

Dr. James David Manning, the notoriously controversial chief pastor at the ATLAH World Missionary Church in New York City, recently delivered a bold and controversial message to his congregants about the black community’s perception of the George Zimmerman trial. He urged his mostly black congregation to stop viewing the world through their “black eyes” and start looking at it through the “blood of Jesus.”

If they did that, the pastor explained, there would be no denying that the verdict in the Zimmerman was the correct one. He also told those who are convinced that Zimmerman is guilty that they only believe that because they are black.
