It goes far deeper than education.
So many levels there.
Lack of intellect is obviously a big one. Not sure how much more "educated" she could be.
Much of it appears to be environmental too. The way she speaks, forms words, etc. She likely never had anyone in the home to speak TO HER in a proper way that she could emulate.

I am thinking her education is so poor, she does not even understand her own slang.I don't have a TV, by choice, but I had the misfortune yesterday to watch some of Miss Jeantel's testimony at the trial.
She is pathetic and I am not sympathetic. I have known cabbages that were more intelligent.
