Governments derive power from many different sources; they derive their legitimate authority from the consent of the governed.

If the government ever lost the confidence of the citizens to the extent that ‘tens of millions’ were willing to oppose them by force, very likely the National Guard, as individuals and as units, would be in the front ranks of the formations arrayed for battle against it. In such a scenario, it is difficult imagine who would be on the side of the government. Unless the body politic had become so divided, over issues and principles, that a true civil war, between the factions broke out. At that point, we could kiss democracy and the republic goodby; representative government of a free people requires that they respect each others political opinions, not kill each other over them.

In any case, as far as organization goes, the Guard is organized now; the ‘tens of millions’ are not...yet.

Breaking news for ya, the corrupt government is no longer legitimate and hasn't been for many years.

If the government ever lost the confidence of the citizens to the extent that ‘tens of millions’ were willing to oppose them by force,

Look Mr. Vietnam Vet, this isn't about corrupt government losing confidence in the people. We already know they don't trust the American people, after it was revealed they are illegally monitoring, bugging, seizing records and spying on law abiding citizens.

More big news for ya...It's the people who lost confidence in government long ago... Where ya been? You seem so isolated.

You seen extremely confused and uninformed regards to corrupt government. BTW, I never trusted those who wear their military status on their sleeves.
