Zimmerman: what about the words 'not guilty' does Obama's Department of Justice not understand?
The London Telegraph ^ | July 17, 2013 | Dr. Tim Stanley

Posted on 07/17/2013 2:17:50 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The rule in the Zimmerman case seems to be “if you don’t get the verdict you want, try, try and try again.” Ever since George Zimmerman was found not guilty of Trayvon Martin’s murder, the US Department of Justice has been pursuing other ways of getting him behind bars. It wants to nail him for breaking federal race-relation laws – for which it would have to prove that Zimmerman was motivated by racism and that it was his civil rights that he was gunning for when he shot him dead. The DOJ’s argument has already hit some logic hurdles. After examining the case for a year, the evidence hasn’t changed and proof of Zimmerman’s racial bias remains absent. The Sanford police, the FBI and the court failed to find evidence that he’s a racist and, if anything, investigation into Zimmerman’s private life suggests the opposite – this is a guy who took a black girl to the prom and mentored black school kids. There isn’t much of a case to pursue here.

And yet the DOJ can’t help but try. On Monday, the DOJ asked civil rights groups and members of the public for “tips” on Zimmerman and, according to Orlando Sentinel, “said they would very aggressively investigate this case”. They even went so far as to set up an email address so that people could write in with their observations: sanford.florida@usdoj.gov. When the email account goes live, I suggest everyone send in this hot tip – “George Zimmerman has been found not guilty.”

The DOJ’s witch hunt is indicative of the febrile racial politics of many of the liberal commentators on the Zimmerman trial. They were initially outraged – quite rightly – that police let him go and that he nearly escaped having to properly account for his actions....

Properly account for his actions? They interrogated him several times and believed his story.

Why can’t news outlets get the facts straight?

Zimmerman should have been considered innocent until proven guilty but the drive by media had different ideas.

another hot tip - this case has nothing to do with stand your ground - it is 100% a self-defense case.

They interrogated him several times and believed his story.

Not necessarily true.

Whether they believed him or not was irrelevant. They had no evidence to dispute his story. As the trial comprehensively showed.

Stay vigilant. They are always looking for the next case to hype.

Meanwhile, black on white murders are ignored.

I predict this email tips move will end up as this year's Attaaaack Watch!

Now that the RATs have successfully motivated their base, they will want to move on themselves. Pushing repeal of SYG laws will only remind normal folks that Dems historically side with criminals.

It’s just one of those silly little selective laws that,in this case, they don’t believe in.

They wanted Obama to pick up the civil rights causes of the 1960s and use the presidency as a bully pulpit to root out and challenge racism wherever they perceive it to exist. And in the Zimmerman case, it’s the Department of Justice that has taken this more aggressive, radical path.

This article was decent, but this part fails to recognize that the leader is responsible all activity within his command. In this case, that includes Eric Holder and the Dept of Justice.

To pretend that Holder is out being a loose cannon while Obama patiently keeps unknowing vigil at the White House is naïve beyond measure.

Eric Holder does what he does because Obama OKs it. If Obama didn't want it, Obama would stop it. I've little doubt that Obama plans it and that Holder is simply a likeminded flunky.

I know!!! That’s driving me nuts! That law was not part of this case and yet the cry across the land from Holder to Stevie Wonder is repeal stand your ground. WTH!?

Meanwhile there are at least 30 states with a law like that so Stevie Wonder can cut his tour destinations way down.

Also read it’s application has benefitted more blacks than whites so again, WTH! ?

I think there are a lot of uninformed blacks jumping on stand your ground without knowing why. Per usual they’re being exploited by their masters.

Since the DOJ is run by a racist (Holder) who’s boss is a racist (Obama) and neither are qualified for the position i.e. Holder is just a complete ass and Obama is an ass, both are idiots and then there’s to whole natural born citizen thing.

As the saying goes a country created by geniuses and run by idiots.

DOJ is upset because Zimmerman’s trial was a potential seed for another government-manufactured crisis.

The new paradigm on the left is that the court case gave a legal outcome, but did not provide “justice”. Unfortunately “justice” is in the eye of the beholder. The winning side got justice and the losing side didn’t. Could have been reversed with a different verdict.

For the left, “justice” is the outcome they they desire, regardless of the law.

>> They had no evidence to dispute his story.

I think the way they put it is, “The factual evidence was in agreement with Zimmerman’s explanation of what occurred.”
