The permit is for concealed carry, not for owning and certainly not for the handgun.

Florida does not require a “license” to own or possess a firearm. The permit is only required if you wish to carry it on your person.

OK. I read your post as implying that GZ was doing something wrong by having an ‘unlicensed’ gun. My error.

Florida does not require a “license” to own or possess a firearm. The permit is only required if you wish to carry it on your person.

New York State (and I believe Illinois) requires at least a premises permit for each handgun purchased and kept at home or in a business. Florida is one of many states that does not require a permit to possess a handgun.

Carrying such a gun is a felony in NY or FL. Most states require that a person be licensed to carry a deadly weapon concealed. Vermont requires neither for an adult, IIRC.

Handgun possession and carry across the US is a state-by-state patchwork quilt of some very threatening statutes. For sure, avoid possessing or giving an LEO any hint of transporting a gun in NJ.
