It's a re-working of a quote from the movie "Risky Business."
Joel Goodson (Tom Cruise) is a high school student who aspires to go to Princeton but clearly lacks the grades to qualify for acceptance.
The initial impression of Joel's application by Princeton interviewer, Rutherford is, "You've done a lot of solid work here, but it's just not Ivy League, now is it?"
However, Joel manages to impress Rutherford with other than academic qualities, and in Joel's Princeton acceptance letter Rutherford closes with
"Princeton can use a guy like Joel."
