One of George Zimmerman's attorneys said that if his client was black, he would have never been charged with a crime.
Mark O'Mara -- the co-attorney for the neighborhood watch volunteer who was charged and then later acquitted Saturday night in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin -- spoke at a news conference following the jury's verdict.
"I think that things would have been different if George Zimmerman was black for this reason. He never would have been charged with a crime," he said.

Yeah - black on black violence? No one would have cared.
It would have been obvious case of self defense and no charges ever filed. No charges were filed here until the political pressure showed up.
Then the prosecution refused to turn over evidence that TM was a thief and stoner and fired the guy that revealed it:
I wonder if the Zimmerman family still will be voting for Democrats after this?
Just look to Chi town
God bless Mr. O’Mara. He seems a right good bloke!
Things would have been different if Zimmerman had gone on Univision over a year ago, and given an exclusive interview En Espanol, instead of to Sean Hannity. He could have hit every single Hispanic news outlet. The entire thing would have been dropped. Maybe it’s better this went the distance.
He would have never been charged with a crime if his last name had been Hispanic and not Jewish.
Yup, just that one insignificant change would have saved him all this grief.
This case was never about justice. Zimmerman and Martin were just props. It was/is about power and MONEY. Following is a long read but a great synopsis;http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2013/07/14/a-nation-of-george-zimmermans-awakened-understand-the-fraud-post-verdict-of-acquittal/
Or if Trayvon was white.
O K...
I get that you are arguing for your client but, race should never have been an/the issue.

Very true.....
Wasn’t MOM replying to a question asked of him?
As usual, they make it sound like MOM just started talking about Race without any provocation.
BTTT
O’Mara surprised me with some of his post verdict comments. I think he was irked by the judge and prosecution team, and let his PC guard down a little. Maybe there’s a little fire in the belly after all, or maybe he was just spiking the ball.
I don’t see him as a hero in this mess. Yup, George got the “not guilty” verdict, but with the amazingly weak case the prosecution had, it didn’t take a brilliant attorney to get there.
If O’Mara were a Republican politician, he’d be a RINO. He was all over the news shows spouting politically correct nonsense about racial injustice, and he’s of the kind that wants the system to continue chugging along, avoiding any nastiness that might come from pursuing the corruption that made the charges in this fiasco possible.
Don West seems more like a man of passion and conviction. O’Mara seems sharp enough, but I think he was more concerned about how this case related to Mark O’Mara than his client.
Yes he was...a question asked by a woman. But this is CBS & AP. Their lies couldn't convict GZ so they're still trying to damage him and his legal team.
If Zimmerman had been gay and beaten like that, he never would have been arrested. If he were a she, beaten like that, she never would have been arrested. I’m not even sure he would have been arrested if he were a “non white” Hispanic.
Hussein is also 1/2 white but have you ever heard the state-run media say he is "white"?
Hussein 1/2 white but they call him black.
GZ 1/2 white and they call him white.
liberalism is a disease.
Only know of him what little I saw of the trial on TV. I just liked his style of delivery. He seemed like a calm, collected no BS type of guy. There was just something I liked about him. Of course, not being from Florida I wouldn’t know his history. The only time I saw West in action was a couple minutes of his opener (the “joke” to be specific) and then his objecting when the Judge questioned GZ about taking stand.
