As a UC Berkeley graduate of the WWII generation I believe this appointment is not only appalling but obnoxious. I will no longer be contributing any funds for UofCal and I support all those who will also cut short their funding. Gov. brown and his cohorts/enablers are using one of if not the largest and most prestigious world public university to take it further into a dark world that Napolitano has been living in. She is a politician not an academic enhancer.
What more could they ask for?
Direct pipeline to:
1) Unlimited graft dollars.
2) Endless illegal data mines on students.
3) Massive warehouse of ammunition.
Add to that hundreds of thousands of pre-brainwashed student’s with weak minds and strong backs.
I’d call that a pretty good pacification force.
I can’t think of a more deserving state.
Yes. That’s the UC Regents for you.
It’s called a political pay-off.

With a California topic it is “right as rain.” I.e. one would not expect a reasoned, thoughtful and upstanding choice for a position such as this. Right out of the demo, Barry Soetoro playbook.
