Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz says the prosecutors in the George Zimmerman murder trial should be charged with "prosecutorial misconduct" for suggesting the defendant planned the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin.
"That is something no prosecutor should be allowed to get away with to make up a story from whole cloth," Dershowitz told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.
"These prosecutors should be disbarred. They have acted absolutely irresponsibly in an utterly un-American fashion."

The Brownshirts at work.
They fan out into local jurisdictions whenever it looks like a “white-on-black” confrontation has ended badly for the “black” involved. Sometimes, as in this instance, the “white” involved was not exactly of the right profile (white “redneck cracker”), so George Zimmerman had to be repainted as a “white Hispanic” (whatever that is).
The “Just-Us” department has been in on this from the beginning, and they found a few willing stooges at the state level in Florida to carry out their dirty work.
By interjecting quotes from MLK in his closing argument, the prosecutor was speaking in racist code, saying this case is about race and should be decided on race. The DOJ is equally culpable for stirring up racial animus in its “Justice for Trayvon” campaign. This president has corrupted the judicial process beyond redemption. The trial judge’s behavior brings to mind the sham trials given the conspirators who were charged with trying to assassinate Hitler during WWII. The whole process has turned into a sham and a hoax.
I’m an attorney, and Dershowitz used to drive me nuts. Couldn’t stand the guy. But more and more I find myself in agreement with him. Time has mellowed at least one of us.
He brings up MLK to white jurors to make them feel guilty and to scare them.
What gets to me is the media still saying Zimmerman disobeyed the dispatcher. As I recall the dispatcher testified that he did NOT order Zimmerman to do or not to do anything. Plus, it wasn’t illegal for Zimmerman to follow. If it was, Martin should have been arrested posthumasly. (sp?)
Prosecutors will inevitably appeal to emotion and, within bounds, this is good. But, the emotion should be for justice, not for sympathy. The defense, in the case, and usually, appeals for reason, as they are looking for reasonable doubt.
In this case, the prosecution made a very emotional second part of its closing argument. The prosecution derogatorily referred to George Zimmerman as “Mr. Stay-puff,” which violates the decorum of the court. The prosecution mischaracterized the evidence when they claimed that Trayvon’s friend was on the phone with him at the time of the shot, when the phone records and a 911 call that they introduced into evidence show this to have been impossible. Should there be a guilty verdict, these will be included in the list of reasons why the verdict should be vacated.
I have the impression that the judge and the prosecution sensed that the case was headed to an acquittal, in which case all their indiscretions will immediately and forever fall away.
But, what is there to make of it being 11 am EST and there is no verdict. I think we can suspect that there is a holdout. Certainly, a holdout on the basis of reasonable doubt could not be persuaded by looking yet again at evidence, since the prosecution’s case is based on filling in the blank using by “thinking with your heart.” So, I suspect the holdout is for guilty and that the verdict will either be acquittal, if the evidence is persuasive with this holdout, or a hung jury.
Dershowitz isn't a typical "liberal lawyer." Unlike most "liberal lawyers" (William Kuntlster and Ron Kuby immediately come to mind), Dershowitz has respect for the law and the Constitution, as opposed to always pushing a personal agenda, usually while twisting the law. Dershowitz is an "honest liberal," much like Christoper Hitchens was an honest socialist.
While I disagree with Dershowitz on many social issues, I respect him.

You know things are screwed up when Whorealdo comes down on the right side of an issue.
Dersherwitz has it half right. The judge should be impeached as well.
Pam Bondi is friends w Martin attys Ben Crump and Darryl Parks....she won’t do crap
Any Florida voter voting for Bondi or Rick Scott after this is just confining this lynching
More to the point, the judge should be booted from office and disbarred, as well.
And it was a damned Republican governor who chose the judge and the prosecutor, when the local authorities refused to play ball with the Obamanoid racebaiters.
They fired the whistleblower, and ADMITTED IN THE TERMINATION LETTER that it was in retaliation for the IT guy revealing to Zimmerman's attorneys that they weren't getting all they were supposed to get.
You are sort of correct. The non-emergency 911 operator asked which way did the person described by the defendant to be suspicious-looking go. Zimmerman took this to mean or at least to suggest that he should follow that person at a distance. At a latter time, emphasize latter time, the non-emergency 911 operator said “We don’t need you to do that.” The prosecution interprets this to mean that the non-emergency 911 operator has the authority to order people around and that “We don’t need you to do that” is an order to return to your vehicle. Trayvon, say the prosecution, had every right to ambulate about the gated community. But, Zimmerman is to be held in suspicion because he didn’t stay in his car. Zimmerman is guilty of defending himself while being white.
Also the judge is a life long liberal democrat. Surprised anyone?
I agree. I felt like I needed a shower every time those guys opened their mouths. Scum.
This travesty should have ended five minutes after the jury retired to deliberate. Not guilty.
It’s been fun to watch Dersch becoming more conservative.
