A buddy of mine was on the Tarmac with the 101st Airborne waiting for the go sign during the Seven Days War when they got the order to stand down.
“Yep. I’m sure glad it hadn’t a been the Eight Days War.”
it was a 7 day war because the Israelis had Hertz rent a tanks and they didn’t want to pay for an extra day....
my ex was 101st left on tarmac AND it was called off too.
he told me that they gave him all new equipment but no ammo. this was around 1980 ish.
