The National Guard to the Rescue in Chicago
NBC News.com ^ | July, 11, 2013 | Tracy Connor, Staff Writer, NBC News

“Every single day we wake up in the city of Chicago, some child, some young adult, some African-American male has been murdered,” state Rep. Monique Davis said Thursday. “This is not acceptable.

“I’m hearing from mothers that they are afraid to go outside,” she said. “Hospitals are overburdened with 70 gunshot wounds in one day. Ambulances are so busy people are driving victims in their own cars.”

Davis held a press conference this week to ask Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn to call in National Guard “to protect our children so they can go to the park and swim and play and have a childhood.” She said the governor has not responded."

Chicago deserves the same military aid as Egypt or Syria. ;-)

Of course, we would not want to arm decent citizens in Chicago to protect themselves and their neighborhoods after the lawmakers have failed for decades to do so!

I'm not sure if anyone else is paying attention, but if you get on the local newspaper forums (Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times, Chicago Reader, etc..) you'll see that some of the happiest folks that "conceal carry" (really: fanny pack carry) has passed are the blacks living in the two or three neighborhoods where all this violence is occurring.

They are quite literally celebrating at having the ability to DEFEND themselves against the gang-banging thugs.

Rahm is on a permanent vacation. Of course, he is very well protected from gangs and criminals. It would take the National Guard to get to him.

Chicago is lost.
Detroit, too.

I would say, Wall them off and require passports... but our government is so inept at that sort of thing that it doesn't matter.

Rep Davis needs to ask, what’s Chicago’s mayor doing for Chicago? What about the anti-gun laws there? If either were worth a hoot why the need for the National Guard?

Quinn needs to personally disarm all of the illegal gun owners in Crook County.

In the neighborhoods she’s talking about I almost wouldn’t mind seeing the Guard go in there with tanks and air support. Almost....

I've posted this before, but I have an alternative idea:

Wall off the Austin and Gresham neighborhoods in Chicago.

Get all the kids out. Any kid under 15, chances are can be saved from the death culture.

Once the kids are all out and Austin and Gresham are walled off so no one can get in or out, drop as much ammunition and weapons of every kind right smack dab in the middle of those neighborhoods.

Wait two weeks, or until the shooting has stopped - whichever comes first.

THEN send in the national guard and arrest anyone left alive for murder. Put them on trial, convict them, and throw them in jail for the rest of their lives.

Problem solved.

I thought there were strict gun control laws in Chicago. Just wait until GZ is found “Not guilty”, and there will be hundreds of dead Trayvons.

Chicago you gave birth to and bred these gangsters.
This is not new it has has been there for years. Best scenerio would be to let it die out. The head of your snake would be left, and then that could be taken off. How many of those fearful mothers have innocent childern that belong to and are the same gang members that creates your world of fear on Chicago Streets. Chicago has allowed it’s streets to be over ran with druggies and criminals. Maybe it’s time for a tale from the old west to return. The bounty hunter with Wanted Dead or Alive 10K!
One thing for sure your Funeral Directors see a gold mine every weekend! If I was in the Buis. I would beat a path for the Windy City! Property speculation has to be goin on for new acreage for Cemetary Plots! Now is the time for That Gerber policy to pay off! No College just Death bennies!

There are legitimate civilian uses for the national guard but normal policing ain’t one of them.

I'm sorry, but the IL Constitution clearly states otherwise:

Constitution of the State of Illinois
ARTICLE XII, SECTION 4. COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF AND OFFICERS
     (a) The Governor is commander-in-chief of the organized militia, except when they are in the service of the United States. He may call them out to enforce the laws, suppress insurrection or repel invasion.
     (b) The Governor shall commission militia officers who shall hold their commissions for such time as may be provided by law.
As you can see, the militia clearly must have the power to enforce civil law, otherwise the Governor could not call them to do so. This is one reason why I think people need tou read their state constitutions: they present a far different picture of what is and isn't allowed than what the politicians paint. (The IN Supreme Court travesty of unilaterally deciding that the right to reasonably resist an unlawful police entry into a home is no longer recognized under Indiana law illustrates that perfectly as the State constitution contained a word-for-word copy of the US Constitution 4th Amendment.)

“This American Life” did an episode on what it’s like to go to school in one of these Chicago neighborhoods. Beyond appalling.

They walk home in the middle of the street because they consider the sidewalks too dangerous. It’s not safe to walk alone but if your group is too big the thugs consider it provocative, and it’s not safe. Talked about one kid (Christian) who refused to join gang. The poor kid literally had no life. Couldn’t go outside, couldn’t go near a window, had no friends. Just broke my heart.
