There is no crueler tyranny than that which is perpetuated under the shield of law and in the name of justice. Charles De Montesquieu
Cheye Calvo only intended to be home long enough to grab a bite to eat and walk his dogs. Calvo worked full-time at an educational foundation in Washington, D.C., but he also had an unusual part-time job: he was mayor of the small town of Berwyn Heights, Maryland. In 2004, at age thirty-three, he was the youngest elected mayor in the history of Prince Georges County, Maryland. Now thirty-seven, he lived with his wife, Trinity Tomsic, her mother, Georgia Porter, and their two black labradors, Payton and Chase. Calvo was due back in town later that night for a community meeting.
As Calvo took the dogs out for a walk the evening of July 29, 2008, his mother-in-law told him that a package had been delivered a few minutes earlier. He figured it was something he had ordered for his garden. On the walk, I noticed a few black SUVs in the neighborhood, but thought little of it except to wave to the drivers, he would later recall. When Calvo and the dogs returned, he picked up the package, brought it inside, then went upstairs to change for his meeting.
The next thing Calvo remembers is the sound of his mother-in-law screaming. He ran to the window and saw heavily armed men clad in black rushing his front door. Next came the explosion. Hed later learn that this was when the police blew open his front door. Then there was gunfire. Then boots stomping the floor. Then more gunfire. Calvo, still in his boxers, screamed, Im upstairs, please dont shoot!

Makes me want to build my next house like a fort. Concrete walls, ballistic resistant glass and breach resistant door.

To heck with that...
Buy an old missile silo, fortify the heck outta it, drill a well inside it for both fuel and water. Raise a garden on several levels, and make it all fully self sufficent.
In 1,000 years have your decendants take over after nature has healer up the mess the socialists made...
May want to bring enough familes down there to ensure a properly branching family tree....
A long but very important read. It makes me wonder how often SWAT is being used for routine police work in my city.
Better.
Best:
Get the Mirved Minuteman, set the target list for state Capitol and law enforcement offices, and hook the thing up to a dead-man switch.
As good a target as any I suppose.
I see the guy settled his lawsuit in 2011, got an unnamed amount, plus some reform in the state. Doesn’t seem to have helped much though.
I suppose one day there will be a firefight with some overzealous LEO’s who raid a property and then get their butts handed to them.
Maybe the Berwyn Heights police department should return the favor to the Prince George County Police Department.
Officer Friendly needed a hug that particular day.
Looks like this trend may be one of the few righties and lefties can agree on opposing.
Like the Kelo decision.
bump
Also brings up an obvious way to cause trouble for someone you don’t like.
FedEx them a package with something illegal in it, then rat them out anonymously to the cops.
I am not surprised at sociopathic behavior from state officials anymore.
Shoot first, ask questions later. After all, that’s their philosophy. Embrace it.
How am I supposed to know that shiny uniform isn’t fake?
I think they actually recruit for it these days, and further instill it by training them to be paranoid of everything.
You mean like what happened at Mt. Carmel outside of Waco?
