Excellent post to your congressman’s facebook page

Of course if people cut-and paste "If you really oppose Obama" and post it to a Dem's website, it might not have the same effect :)

No one will be on that committee who would say no to a deal because it has citizenship.

I don't see how Boehner could exclude Goodlatte, (chairman of the Judiciary Committee, who keeps repeating he is opposed to a path-to-citizenship), without causing a stink that would make it hard for a conference bill with a path-to-citizenship to pass in the House. But he is only one vote, and there are powerful forces who want amnesty, and I would not be surprised if they tried extortion.

Everyone I know is watching this closely.

Great post on the guy's Facebook page!

You should let him know the joint statement from the leadership was appreciated, but they should NOT work on any bill that would get to a conference with the Senate bill. Remind him about what happened to the GOP majority in 2006 after they brought this bill up.........remind him nicely........:-)

Actually I'm not trusting Boehner, I think you can see that from my posts. What I am trusting is they are getting serious heat about this bill, what I am trusting is they don't want a repeat of 2006.

I'm also guessing he knows what will happen if he takes the GOPe route, which is why I think he's killing the bill without saying so. I could be wrong, but I see good reasons to think I'm right at this point.

I hope you're calling, writing, faxing your rep and Boehner/Cantor's offices. That's the one thing you should be doing. We can't just whine about what they might do, we need to work at keeping the pressure on.

How could an immigration bill passed in the House NOT go to conference, unless both houses agreed to drop it?

At first I called his office and kept asking how they were going to prevent a path-to-citizenship to materialize in conference. After no answer for a couple of weeks (We have millions of people who have various concerns....") I finally called back and said vote against the senate bill, and any house immigration bill.

Yes, I would like border security, but there is no rational way I can predict what would happen to such a bill.

If I get no response to questions about what might happen in conference, how should I tell him to vote?

Yes, secure the borders.

But also abolish the absurd Diversity Visa Lottery.

And abolish chain migration by limiting family-based immigration to spouses and minor children.

And restrict (to the point of nearly abolishing) the refugee settlements.

And make sure that any Guest Worker Program is truly what it is advertised as. That means the guests are truly guests, and must return home, and are not given a separate path to citizenship, and are not allowed to bring family with them into the United States.

And enact strict bans on immigrants receiving public assistance.

And take action to forbid racial preferences, or at least restrict immigrants from receiving them.

And practice years of vigorous interior and border enforcement to see how many illegals will self-deport.

That’s all a fantasy I know, but it would be a superior version of comprehensive immigration reform. It would be conservative immigration reform.

Hard to sell now, as all polls show Hispanics want enforcement, NOT amnesty.

WHAT? That's unpossible I says!! Unpossible!
