Manufactured excuse to justify his total screw up!
He was totally out of configuration and off glide slope further than 4 miles out that should have made him declare a missed approach and gone around!!!
A sorry pile of crap that should never be allowed back in the cockpit!
I used to tell my students, “try to salvage a landing out of a bad approach and you will wind up as salvage”. Go Around, it will add a few minutes to the time you log for the flight.
Pride is a hard dish to swallow, especially for those Korean pilots.
